The Warnings Of Looking Back
118th BDS – 3/28/2024
Scripture Reference: Luke 9:62, Luke 17:31-32, Genesis 19:17 & 26, Exodus 14:13
”And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:62 KJV
Our GOD has created us in His own image or likeness to worship Him and to do whatever pleases Him and Him only. So He warns us that if we do not accept, do and obey His will for us and the works that He has given us to do in and through His Name but instead turn and do what we desire and/or perform the desires of others for us, we are no good to Him and His Eternal Kingdom is not and will not be our home.
”In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife.“
Luke 17:31-32 KJV
Once we have found our place in Him and He is showing us the way to go, let us not find a place back at that the table of corrupt living nor remember and long for the Worldly comforts of our old lives (not even to imagine what it might be like still living in the old ways before we met Him). GOD warns us of this through the result of what happened to Lot’s wife.

”And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.“
Genesis 19:17 KJV
“But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.“
Genesis 19:26 KJV
GOD clearly warns us of the dangers of reaching back to reunite with old friends, restore past relationships and hanging on to what hinders us from not only growth in and through Him, but also the strongholds of lingering with people and in old places that He has plainly and openly rescued us from.
”And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.“
Exodus 14:13-14 KJV
GOD assures us that if we trust Him to move us forward from standing in stagnant waters and if we allow Him to keep us out of harms way and in some situations, certain death.. He will be true to His Word and make sure that we not only never lay our eyes on those people, places, things or even to think in the old ideologies of our past, but also nothing and no one that rises up against us will gain and advantage over us because He is fighting for us behind the scenes!!!
Final Thought: ”No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17 KJV
So tell me again, why you would ever choose to look back?🤔
